letter from Steve

December 21, 2007

Dear Friends,

In November, I made the decision to seek elected office and once again represent citizens of Hays County.  I have filed as a candidate for Hays County Commissioner, Precinct 3.

During six years of elected service in Wimberley, I learned how critical it is to work hard for preservation and prosperity in the face of rapid growth.  I have assessed the challenges and opportunities, and I am certain I can make the critical decisions regarding our heritage, environment, economy and way of life.

I believe government should not be involved in every area of our lives.  When the citizens want government involved, though, government needs to get the job done.  You deserve a government that works for you.

Precinct 3 is a very special place.  It stretches along the southern Hays County line, into the City of San Marcos and all the way to the outlet malls.  It includes the Wimberley and Woodcreek communities, and the surrounding neighborhoods. It has varying geography, and both urban and rural populations. While the issues may vary from one area of the precinct to another, the overwhelming input I receive is the desire to maintain our quality of life while thousands more move here.

The primary election for Hays County Commissioner, Precinct 3 will be held in March and the general election next November.  Please watch for campaign kickoff events in San Marcos, Woodcreek and Wimberley. I hope I will see you at one of these events.

Sincerely,

Steve Klepfer
